Hermione Cottage is fortunate to be situated on a large flat section- a rarity at Lake Tarawera- as many dwellings are built around the steeper slopes edging the lake.
Established trees (Hermione obtained and planted the older ones from Kew Gardens) surround the Cottage making perfect areas for lunching and picnics.
Outdoor dining and relaxing on one of our decks is a treasured part of staying at Hermione Cottage.
Take in the surrounding native bush complete with New Zealand rimu , tawa,clematis and rewarewa.
An abundance of bird life, tui,kereru,ruru and bellbirds make their homes amidst the native and exotic trees, and many black swans, pukeko, Australian coots, dabchicks and scaup, amongst others make for an ever changing busy view from the front deck.
Adjoining the property and running down to the lake is a flat wide open park; a popular place for cricket, croquet and picnics etc.
The property is fenced along the roadside but not fully fenced on the lake side (care must be taken with small children).
